So keep looking back to see how far we make it! Again, thank you for your support! Our Mission
| Me and dad only two weeks prior to diagnosis. |

My dad, Robert C. Gallimore, was diagnosed with Esophageal Cancer in July/August of 1999, and underwent surgery on August 9, 1999. He suffered many complications following that surgery and remained in the hospital until the Monday prior to Thanksgiving that same year. As you can imagine he had a long rehab period at home and then things seemed to be picking right up, except that he had a major change with that first surgery. He no longer could eat by mouth and it go into his stomach. Instead he could eat by mouth and it would go into a pouch that was adheared to the outside of his neck. that he could empty and change as needed. Quite a personal appearance disturbance! His nutrition came from a feeding tube he was hooked up to throughout each night. Then in January of 2001 dad was told the cancer had spread and he now had Lung Cancer, and surgery was not an option. He voted for chemo and radiation, and we watched his body diminish day by day. He did, however, live long enough to meet his three new grandchildren. Both my brothers and I were expecting within 3 months of each other. Dad died December 21, 2001. Since dad's diagnosis and death, we have become active in fundraising for the American Cancer Society, escpecially the RELAY FOR LIFE event. It is a full community event where you walk all night and raise money all year to contribute. Taylor and I have increased our personal goals this year and really pray we meet them!
